Filler words

We are regularly contacted by adults who suspect that they have a stutter or stammer because their speech isn't smooth. Upon assessment, it is determined that they do not have a classic stuttering issue, but rather that they have an excessive use of filler words in their speech. This means that they are using "um", "uh", "like", "sort of" far too frequently which disrupts the rhythm of speech and the ease of listening.

If you are concerned about the frequency with which you use filler words, then please contact our clinic to set up an initial consultation where you can discuss these concerns and your treatment options.
